Embattled Hollywood actor, Jussie Smollett’s role in hit TV series,
“Empire” has reportedly been slashed in the wake of allegations that he
staged his recent homophobic and racist attack.
According to the report by celebrity gossip site, TMZ, Smollett was
supposed to have nine scenes and a big musical number in the second to
the last episode, which is being shot now but five of his scenes have
been cut and his musical number has been cancelled.
It is also learned that for the remaining four scenes, he is no
longer the focus. The scene features an ensemble, meaning he is flanked
by a number of cast members.
Not only that, TMZ also reports that with his duties pared down,
Smollett will be spending way less time on set. Instead of working every
day this week, he will be working Friday and possibly Thursday, and he
won’t be rehearsing.
An update to the Smollett’s attack case is that the case is heading
to a Grand Jury as early as Tuesday and the focus is presenting evidence
that could lead to a felony indictment against Smollett for allegedly
filing a false police report.
