Davido Says He's Finally Releasing His Sophomore Album This Year

It has been seven years since Davido dropped his debut album, Omo Baba Olowo, and the afropop king is definitely taking his time to release the much-anticipated follow-up. While he promised, multiple times, to drop it last year, he never made good on his word.
Well, he recently announced that 2019 will finally be the year we get to hear the album, and we are hyped, albeit understandably apprehensive.

Although Davido hasn't dropped a complete body of work since his 2015 EP, Son Of Mercy — an utterly disappointing misfire —he's dropped a bunch of impressive songs since then that, if compiled together, might as well make up an entire album.
Speaking about this during an interview with DJ Abbass, he said:
"I always tell people this, since 2016, how many songs have I dropped? I always drop series of songs, all those songs, if you count it now, it's already one album.
So I have given you guys materials, just that I haven't compiled it in one body of work, but I think this year I want to compile a couple of songs and drop an album."
We're definitely gagging for this album to actually be released, given the calibre of music he's been dropping since 2017. We won't be holding our breath for it, however, since this won't be the first time he's made this promise to us.
